Whoops! Just tried a new whole wheat bread recipe in my breadmaker. It said it was for a one pound load, so I doubled it for my 2 pound bread machine. Oops. I think the person who posted it got it wrong. I just checked and the breadmaker was full to the lid, the dough overflowing the bread pan. Obviously, I’ve taken the excess dough out and I know the bread is probably ruined. But I’ve turned off the breadmaker and will let it rise again, then bake to see how it goes. The excess I’ve formed into a loaf on my pizza stone. I’ll let it rise too and bake it in the oven. I guess this will teach me to not double check how much flour it takes to make a pound of bread. I’ve only rarely (as in once or twice before) used a breadmaker, and normally only make banana or zucchini bread without one, so it’s not exactly one of my stronger points. I’ll post later about how the bread turns out. But I won’t post the recipe until I try it again. Have to give it a fair shot. Well, everything turned out all right. The bread tastes pretty good. Bit oddly shaped on the top, but that’s about it.
Next time I’ll have to make sure to just do the regular recipe. If it is, as I suspect, a pound and a half recipe, my breadmaker can cope with that, so I won’t need to deal with the calculations to fix that. No point messing around with what appears to be a quite decent recipe.
