| Dinnertime Romance for Valentine's Day | February 14th, 2007 |

You don’t have to go out for dinner to make Valentine’s Day a truly romantic holiday. You can make something at home. Just make things a little special and you’re in good shape. Start out by figuring out his favorite dinner. You want something really special, not the everyday. Start on it early enough that you don’t feel stressed by dinnertime. You can chop ingredients in advance to save yourself some time and stress later on. Don’t forget the wine. Get out the fancy dishes and the candles. Make the table look beautiful. Dim those lights if the candles aren’t going to provide enough light. Moms, if you’re the one doing this, you can send roses to him. He’ll be quite surprised, and they’ll make a lovely centerpiece for the table. Then start thinking about dessert. I published a recipe for chocolate covered strawberries earlier today – a fun and romantic dessert, but you can make just about anything that appeals. A cake, a pie, even just buying a favorite ice cream or sorbet can help to finish dinner off in just that special way. All of this makes for a simple yet memorable Valentine’s Day evening. If you have kids, you can try holding your dinner until after the children are in bed to make it as romantic as possible. But even if you eat together as a family you can make this dinner special.
