Canned Fish Offers More Omega-3s August 13th, 2007

I have to admit – I love tuna. Definitely my favorite fish. So easy to make a quick meal with it – open up a can, mix it with the other ingredients, heat if necessary, and it’s done.

But apparently canned fish such as tuna also offer more omega-3s. In other words, they may be better for you than other kinds of fish.

Water packed is generally better than oil packed because oil and water don’t mix. You know how much liquid you drain out of the can when you eat tuna. If it’s packed in oil, the omega-3 oils can drain out with the other oil.

Canned salmon is even better for you in terms of how much omega-3 you get. Health experts encourage people to eat fish twice a week. Fish is also low in saturated fat.
