| Becoming A Healthy Eater | June 8th, 2006 |
If you’re at that time in your life where you are tired of having poor eating habits you might be concerned that it will be too hard to become a healthy eater. Fortunately it really isn’t as hard as it might seem. Being a healthy eater doesn’t have to involve calculating grams of fat or counting calories. It is about balancing your diet and eating appropriate amounts. Part of eating healthy is eating a variety of foods. You want to be sure you eat from all the food groups, not just focusing on your favorites. You need to eat at least three times a day, and yes, that does mean don’t skip breakfast. You should recognize as you build your healthy eating habits that you need to give yourself some leeway. Don’t feel like a failure if you have some less than nutritious foods, fail to balance your meals sometimes or eat too much. You’re human. Enjoying what you eat is certainly acceptable. So long as your normal habits provide you with all the nutrients to keep you healthy and keep your mind alert you’re doing pretty well. As you develop your healthy eating habits you’ll learn how to make better food decisions. You’ll become more aware of what you eat and how it will effect your body. Healthy eating habits are a way of taking control of a part of your life. Building this habit can help you to control your spending on food, how you prepare it and gives a certain schedule as you practice eating at a more regular time. Healthy eating does not mean you restrict your food intake. It means you control it, both learning to eat only what you need and in eating the right kinds of food. It’s a lifestyle. It’s a way to feel better, look better and be more alert as your body and mind get exactly what they need to function at their best. It’s not a way to make life more difficult for yourself. As you get more interested in healthy eating you may find that it becomes fun. Healthy meals don’t have to be bland… you aren’t restricted to tofu on rice cakes, for example. There are all kinds of interesting foods you’ve probably never tried and great ways to make your meals taste great. Posted in Advice ||
